EDUCATION AND OUTREACH AT THE BEAD MUSEUM
Bead Museum offers a multicultural, interdisciplinary education/outreach
program as part of its mission to promote the study and public appreciation
of beads and ornaments from ancient, ethnic and contemporary cultures.
School and youth groups in the Museum and off-site have included
students from DC and MD public and private schools; special needs youth
programs, and Girl Scout and Brownie troops from the area.
Programs for adult groups have included professional societies, docents
from The Smithsonian Institutions, bead societies and special interest
Even the casual visitor to the Museum can expect informed answers to
bead questions, docent guidance in viewing exhibits and a wealth of
informational materials. Customized, carefully planned programs
are offered for adult and school/youth groups. For all ages beads and
ornaments provide an attractive, engaging entry into the serious study
of foreign cultures.

Beads from every region of the globe are spread out in a vast, hands-on
display. Interactive discussions with the audience make these

Bead Museum is an active participant in the Third Thursday and Annual
Arts on Foot events in the Pennsylvania Quarter of Washington DC.
For these occasions as well as for our regular Open Houses and Family
Fun Days, a multitude of interesting learning activities for all ages
Bead Society of Greater Washington and The Bead Museum are proud to
introduce the Junior Bead Club for young people ages 7 14, who
enjoy collecting beads, learning about them, and using them creatively!
