Rewarding Internship Opportunities!

 

The Bead Museum in Washington DC is dedicated to the diffusion of knowledge about beads. We maintain a Permanent Collection, space for Rotating Exhibits, a Library, and a Museum Shop. We host lecturers, produce a calendar of events, publish a Newsletter, are working on a Web site and our first two books. We participate in various educational community events.

 

We offer the chance to expand your portfolio or resume with meaningful work experiences in the following disciplines:

 

Journalism, Communications, English or Graphic Design

  • Editing, writing, researching, reviewing for our Newsletter

  • Participating in the re-design and updating of our Newsletter

  • Maintaining and updating our website

 

Museum Management and/or Art History

  • Assisting with exhibit design, installation, and dismantling

  • Planning and implementing special events related to exhibits

  • Training as docent and working with the public in the Museum

  • Researching beads and assisting with the accessioning

 

Library Science

  • Helping to evaluate and review books for library patrons

  • Creating Library exhibits and programs

  • Assisting with cross referencing system

 

Education

  • Working to design and implement teacher training programs

  • Facilitating and coordinating visiting students and groups

All Intern Positions are on a volunteer basis.  We will be happy to assist you in meeting your academic requirements and will provide references on request.
